Bio:
Catalina Arevalo (Caty) is an award-winning environmental reporter and communicator.
For the last two decades, she has worked as a correspondent, editor, and producer for the world's largest Spanish-language news organization, EFE, primarily covering climate change, energy, biodiversity, and sustainable development.
She has written on-the-ground reports analyzing grave environmental problems, like the first Alaskan communities forced to leave their land because of the impacts of climate change, marine pollution due to plastic waste, or the indigenous people affected by oil spills in the Amazon. Her stories reach millions of readers worldwide, giving a global platform to the most rigorous voices in environmental science.
Arevalo is expert in climate change communication, and she authored a study on climate change coverage in Europe for the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (RISJ) at Oxford University.
Prior to EFE, she worked as a reporter for El Mundo newspaper and for Onda Cero and COPE radio, in Madrid.
Catalina is a frequent contributing writer and panellist for national and international environmental publications and conferences.
