The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, told reporters yesterday that the US must take the lead in world efforts to slow down the pace of global warming. Ban’s statement, Reuters‘s Michelle Nichols reports, is his first on climate change. AP’s Alexandra Olson reports that his comments came in response to questions after a meeting with students from around the world. He apparently made clear that climate change is as serious an issue as armed conflict, and is likely itself to fan war.
