Ever wonder what it takes to get a science story published or produced? In many cases, it’s just three sentences. Come watch — or participate — as the editors of Undark, a new digital magazine published under the auspices of the Knight Science Journalism Program at MIT, field three-sentence pitches from cub reporters, seasoned scribes, and armchair journalists like you in a good-natured pitch-slam. Veteran science writers and producers will be on hand to provide pre-pitch coaching, and alongside their hearty thumbs-up (or reluctant thumbs-down), our panel of editors will offer feedback, small prizes, and to one lucky participant, a chance for their proposal to appear in Undark.
Doors — and a cash bar — will open at 7pm, and everyone is free to pitch a story, but remember: You have just three sentences!
The event, hosted by former Science Times editor of The New York Times, David Corcoran, is part of the prestigious Cambridge Science Festival, an annual, 10-day celebration of science, technology, engineering, art and math in Cambridge and around New England. Every spring, the Cambridge Science Festival makes science accessible, engaging, and fun for everyone through multifaceted and multicultural events.
