If one wishes to keep up on the detailed ebbs and flows of climate change policy discussions, a good place to dabble was at Time magazine’s issue last week.
In it is a first-person column by Bryan Walsh, who appears to be rather worried over the slow pace of policy change in the face of global warming. He spent part of last week at Bill Clinton’s annual Global Initiative meeting and came back heartened. It was better, he says, than either the UN meeting or the White House meeting the same week.
The magazine’s Laura Blue also has a Q & A from London with Danish statistician and climate non-worrier (but not denialist either) Bjorn Lomborg. Problem: yes, he says. End of civilization: not even close, he says. He, as he has been saying lately, believes that nobody is going to do much of anything about global warming if it’s particularly expensive. So he says we need to invest in research toward cheap, green alternatives. Sounds like: relax, but don’t be lazy.
