Bio:
Karen is a freelance Health/Science journalist, writing regularly for The New York Times, Scientific American and USA Today, among others. She is also an adjunct journalism professor at both Boston University - in the Master's of Science Journalism program - and the Harvard Extension School. She is currently working on a book with MIT Press, called "Born in Cambridge: People and Ideas that Have Changed Our World," about historic firsts in Cambridge, MA., from the first poem written in the New World, to the inventions of astrophotography, the sewing machine, the high lighter pen, and the Fig Newton.
