Bio:
Jason Bittel is a freelance science writer with a focus on animals. From the cute and cuddly to the hairy, scary, and extraordinary, Bittel tries to teach people about the life all around us. In addition to writing for adult readers at National Geographic Magazine, The Washington Post, Popular Science, New Scientist Magazine, and elsewhere, he writes a monthly column for kids aged 7 to 11 called “Ever Wondered?” at the Washington Post's KidsPost section. He is also the author of "How To Talk To A Tiger...And Other Animals", a book about animal communication aimed at kids aged 8 to 12. Prior to his project fellowship at the Knight Science Journalism Program, Bittel received an MFA at the University of Pittsburgh's Creative Nonfiction program, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA.
