For years we've been reading about bald eagles repopulating their range. The eastern US has lots of them again. Washington never lost them, and Alaska's been chock full all along. But here along California's mid-section? I've yet to see one, that I can recall, around here in the Bay Area; that goes especially for anywhere near urban areas. But as this is my last post as a regular staffer here after about roughly 7,500 of them since 2006 (yes, I keep bringing this transition up even though I'll stick around as parttime freelance or independent conctractor or something like that), I'll finish with something close to home and good news to boot. For the last few weeks the local press has regaled readers with news we have joined the eagle parade. We got'em again - not just the golden eagles that were always around here even if rare but a few genuine, feathered national symbols too.
